How drivers are delivered

The drivers for PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, Redis, MariaDB, TiDB, OceanBase, Databend, Amazon Redshift, CockroachDB, PGlite and ClickHouse come with the Mac app and connect with nothing else installed.

Every other driver is a signed plugin that downloads the first time you pick its engine, before the connection form opens. That first download needs an internet connection.

Before a downloaded driver is installed, TablePro checks its SHA-256 checksum against the plugin registry and checks its code signature.

Plugins update on their own schedule, so a driver fix can arrive without an app update. A driver that is in use is updated after you restart the app.

The iPhone and iPad app has its drivers built in, so nothing downloads there.

Plugins and driver updates

The database type chooser for a new connection, with engines grouped by category and MongoDB marked Not Installed.

On iPhone and iPad

The iPhone and iPad app connects to MySQL, MariaDB, TiDB, OceanBase, PostgreSQL, SQLite, DuckDB, Redis, SQL Server and Oracle.

Connections to Amazon Redshift open there only when they come from a Mac, through iCloud Sync or an exported connection file.

Connections to other engines sync to iPhone and iPad and appear in the list, but they do not open there.

No database needs a license

Connecting to any engine on this page is free. A Starter or Team plan adds optional features to the Mac app, and none of them is tied to a particular database.

Missing your database?

New engines arrive as driver plugins. If the one you use is not listed, ask for it on GitHub.
