What a paid plan adds

These are the only features that need a paid plan, and all of them are in the Mac app. Team includes everything in Starter. Connecting to any supported engine needs no license, and neither do the AI assistant, the MCP server or Safe Mode.

How licenses work

Macs
A Starter license activates on up to 2 Macs. On Team, each seat is one activated Mac, the buyer’s own included. The iPhone and iPad app never uses a license or a seat.
Activating
Enter your license key in TablePro on your Mac, in Settings > License. To use it on a different Mac, remove the old one on the Machines page of your account.
Checks
TablePro checks the license’s signature each time it opens, and confirms the license with TablePro’s server every 7 days. If your Mac can’t reach the server, the paid features keep working for 30 days. Confirming it sends the license key, a hashed machine ID, the Mac’s name and the app and macOS versions.
When a plan ends
If a monthly or yearly plan ends, the paid features stop and the rest of the app keeps working as it does on Free.
One-time
A one-time purchase is paid once and has no expiry date.
What each paid feature does when a plan ends

Each paid feature stops in its own way:

  • Compare & SyncOpening it shows an alert that asks for a license.
  • Query InsightsThe view stays, covered by a license prompt.
  • Result ChartsThe chart stays, covered by a license prompt.
  • Data RewindSaves are no longer recorded, and restoring shows an alert.
  • iCloud SyncSync pauses, and Settings says why.
  • Linked FoldersConnections from linked folders leave your connection list.
  • Encrypted ExportExports lose the option to include passwords. Plain exports, and importing encrypted files, keep working.
  • Environment Variables$VAR is no longer filled in, and nothing says so: the connection uses the text as written.
  • Team CatalogThe publish commands are hidden.
  • Team LibraryTeam connections and queries are hidden until a Team plan is active again.

The terms of service set out what a license allows.

Billing

Polar is the merchant of record for TablePro. It sells you the plan, takes the payment, calculates any sales tax or VAT from your billing address, and emails your receipt and invoice. Prices are listed in US dollars.

Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until you cancel them, in your account or in Polar’s customer portal. After you cancel, the plan keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and you can resume it before then. If a renewal payment fails, Polar emails you a link to update your card and retries the payment for about three weeks.

For purchases made through Polar, your invoices, receipts, payment method and cancellation are in Polar’s customer portal, where you sign in with the email address you used at checkout. Billing & invoices in your account opens it too.

Refunds

Every plan can be refunded within 7 days of purchase, or, for a yearly plan, of its most recent renewal. The refund policy explains how to ask and what happens to the license.

Team plans

A Team plan is priced per seat, from 5 to 200 seats. Each seat is one activated Mac, the buyer’s own included, so someone who works on two Macs takes two seats.

The person who bought the plan manages the team in their account. They invite teammates by email, and each invite is a code that works once, expires after a week and needs a free seat.

On a monthly or yearly Team plan, you change the number of seats in your account, and the difference shows on your next invoice. To add seats to a one-time Team purchase, email [email protected].

Priority support
Emails from Team customers are answered first, within one business day.

Open source

TablePro is open source under the AGPLv3, including the code for its paid features. A build from source checks the license the same way the released app does.

The AGPL places no conditions on running TablePro, including at work, in a company of any size. Its conditions apply to distributing it, and to offering a modified version to others over a network.
