Differences that matter

TablePro is maintained and has separate builds for Apple silicon and Intel. Sequel Pro’s last release is an Intel build that needs Rosetta on Apple silicon.^{Source 2Source 5}
It connects to MySQL and MariaDB and to other engines, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, SQLite, Redis and MongoDB.
It imports Sequel Ace connections with their passwords, so Sequel Ace can be a step on the way. See TablePro vs Sequel Ace.
The AI assistant and the MCP server are free in the Mac app.

TablePro’s limits

TablePro cannot read Sequel Pro’s favorites directly. They go through Sequel Ace first.
Its interface is not Sequel Pro’s, so expect to relearn where some things are.
TablePro connects to MySQL and MariaDB over TCP only, not through a local socket file.
Some features are paid. Starter adds features such as Compare & Sync, Query Insights, Data Rewind and iCloud Sync.

Switching from Sequel Pro

TablePro has no importer for Sequel Pro. The path that works goes through Sequel Ace: move your favorites into Sequel Ace, then import them from Sequel Ace into TablePro.

In Sequel Ace, follow its guide “Migrating from Sequel Pro”, which copies your favorites file and preferences into Sequel Ace. The guide says passwords are not moved automatically and offers a script for them, and SSH keys need to be chosen again.
In TablePro, choose File > Import > Import from Other App…, select Sequel Ace and turn on Include passwords.
Before you remove either app, open a connection that had a password to check that it came across.

Questions

Does Sequel Pro run on Apple silicon?

Only through Rosetta, because version 1.1.2 is an Intel build. Apple says that from macOS 28, Rosetta will remain only for certain older games.

Can TablePro import Sequel Pro favorites?

Not directly. Copy them into Sequel Ace with Sequel Ace’s migration guide, then import them from Sequel Ace. Sequel Ace’s guide says passwords are not moved automatically, so check them in Sequel Ace before you import, or enter them in TablePro.

Should I move to Sequel Ace or to TablePro?

Sequel Ace, if you want Sequel Pro’s interface for MySQL and MariaDB, free and maintained. TablePro, if you also use other engines, want an iPhone and iPad app, or want an AI assistant in the app. Compare TablePro with Sequel Ace.

Is HeidiSQL an option on the Mac now?

On a Mac with Apple silicon, yes. HeidiSQL, a free client for MySQL, MariaDB and other databases, has published a Mac build since January 2026, with no version for Intel Macs. Compare TablePro with HeidiSQL.
